characters also have played their roles importantly. Bangladesh has got not
more movies on Language Movement in Bangladesh. Jibon Thekey Neya (1970)
directed by the famous film director of Bangladesh Zahir Raihan, is made based
on Language Movement. Fagun Haway also has been made based on Language
Movement occurred in 1952 in Bangladesh (East Pakistan).

the basis of religion. And Bangladesh became a part of Pakistan. The next 24
years was an era of deprivation and suppression. The people of Bangladesh with

and language. On the 27th January, 1952, Pakistan Government again

Haway, 2019)]

villagers of Chndranagar, Khulna to speak Urdu and abandon their mother
language Bengali.”
Personal Review:
The film is based on Language Movement occurred in
1952 in East Pakistan now Bangladesh. The film features several important dates
these are the source of the film story. The story of the film is also taken
from ‘Bou Kotha Kow’ a short story. The important dates are:-
23rd December, 1951.
26th December, 1951.
15th January, 1952.
28th January, 1952.
2nd February, 1952 and
20th February, 1952.
Fagun Haway is an excellent work of Tauquir Ahmed. He
has directed several other famous films that make him famous in Bangladesh and
he achieves National and other awards for outstanding film making styles for example;
Oggatonama (The Unnamed) (2016). He is also famous for his Haldaa (2017). It’s
a historical film. It is also a romantic film on Language Movement. Language Movement
is a real and true event in Bangladesh. But he makes it as fictional adding
romance or a love story between a young Muslim boy and a young Hindu girl. Here
Yashpal Sharma (India) has acted as a Pakistani police officer. Siam Ahmed as
the Muslim young boy and Nusrat Imrose Tisha as the Hindu young girl. What an
outstanding performance! Specially, Siam has acted his best. His acting in Poramnon
2 (2018) and Dahan (2018) is unnatural and dialogues are not fluent.
But he has done his best in Fagun Haway(2019) doing natural acting and
with fluent as well as standard dialogues. Siam Ahmed has acted in the film as
Nasir and Tisha as Dipti. Tisha’s acting and dialogues are also excellent and
standard. Yashpal Sharma has also acted his best. Actually the script is a
tight one and there is less dialogue in the film and director has imposed his
strength on visualization. The background music is extra ordinary. Cinematography
is also outstanding. But there should do color correction precisely. As color
is the aesthetic of the historical film. There is difference of 67 years. So,
the visual color and the environment should be made based on that event according
to history. Set design, make up, costumes are good. Actually the story is about
a village only. But this kind of event is about a national issue. So, it would
be good if the film is made with some inner events and environments of our
Language Movement. There are many events and inners feelings of then students
that are not expressed anyway. But this kind of step making films about our
Language Movement is really admirable and adorable. I specially thank the
director for his overall outstanding work. A good director can make a good film
not professional or non-professional actor and actress. Fagun Haway is the good
example about it. It is also a hit film in Bangladesh. Actually, many audiences
have gone to cinema hall to watch a cinema about whose story they have never seen
it before. It is also an attractive story. The performance and the dialogues
are also standard and natural that help it to make it hit. Other supporting
characters also have acted excellent, for example, Abul Hayat, Fazlur Rahman
Babu Shahidul Alam Sachchu etc.
