The White Tiger (2021) is an English and Hindi language Indian crime drama film written and directed by Ramin Bahrani. Adarsh
Gourav has acted in his first leading role as well as Priyanka Chopra and
Rajkumar Rao. Actually, the film is made based on the same name novel of Aravind
Adiga. The film ‘The White Tiger’ is released on 6th January,
2021 in Las Vegas and on 22nd January, 2021 worldwide. The film is
about Balram a young man who comes from a poor village and eradicates his
poverty using his wit.

Review of ‘The White Tiger’ (2021)
I have watched ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ (2008) and ‘Parasite’
(2019). The film ‘The White Tiger’ has a resemblance with these films in
the background story as the films describes about the eradication of poverty. From
this point of view, this film has a great similarity with the twos. I have
pointed out several facts about the film to describe it. Before this, I want to
tell some differences and different characterizations of the film that why this
film is different from some of Indian Masala film. The narrative is told with
realistic way. That means it is based on realism, a type of Hollywood cinema,
GFX used in a realistic way; realistic performance, realistic dialogues. Any audience
when will watch, he must believe this in every sphere. But the ending of the
film does not fit with the beginning or the climax. Actually, the ending has
not been completed logically. It could not uphold the continuity of the film in
the ending. Whatever, but cinematography, acting performance, background music,
storytelling techniques and styles have applications to the audiences.
‘I understood how hard it is for a man to win his freedom
in India’. Actually, this dialogue describes the utmost state of India. And the
story is telling about Balram who is the example of it. How do the high castes look
down upon the low castes in India? This quotation will describe rightly. ‘The
rooster coop, they can see and smell the blood. They know they are next, yet
they don’t rebel. They don’t try and get out of the coop.’ servants here have
been raised to behave the same. Notice the example; ‘the furniture on his back
is worth at least two years salary and yet he will faithfully pedal the money
back to his boss without ever touching a single rupee. No servant does. Why? Because,
Indians are the world’s most honest and spiritual people? No, It’s because 99.9%
of us are caught in the rooster coop. the trustworthiness of servants is so
strong that you can put they key of emancipation in a man’s hand and he will
throw it back at you with a curse.’ The story of the film describes more about
the differences of castes. ‘In the old days, when India was the richest nation
on earth, there were 1000 castes and destinies. These days, there are just two
castes. Men with big bellies and men with small bellies; and there are only two
destinies ‘Eat or get eaten up’.

A successful entrepreneur always finds his competitor’s
secrets. Balram also realize his competitor’s secrets. And a secret can help
him to reach higher place. Balram believes in socialism. But he looks up evil
politics and politicians in his area. Rich men always do anything for benefit. And
this system takes the rich to evil destination.
Balarm’s question is ‘rich men are born with
opportunities they can waste, but a poor man?’ ‘Men born in the light like my
master have the choice to be good, men born in the coop like me we don’t have
that choice.’
So, rich men can do any wrong with their choice but if
any poor man does that he must be caught. But 0.01% men get successful. Balram is
one of them. When rich man steals anything, why isn’t it wrong? But if poor man
steals it, why is it wrong? Balram’s father replies of this question. ‘Even if
you were to steal the bag of money…it wouldn’t be stealing. ‘Mr. Ashok bribes
politicians in order not to pay taxes. So, who is he stealing from?; The ordinary
people of this country, me and you.’
So, at last Balram reaches at his destination however it
is wrongly or rightly, but he is a good entrepreneur. He says, ‘I don’t treat
my drivers like servants. I don’t care about their religion and I certainly don’t
call them my family. They are my employees. I make them sign a contract and I sign
it too.’
I think it is a great work of the director Ramin Bahrani.
And as a first leading character Adarsh Gourav has given the film a supreme
difference in his performance. Priyanka Chopra has done her right justice
according to her performance. At last Rajkumar Rao has acted his best as I
thought he has acted his role as a silent criminal. No one can know his crimes
but he silently commits crimes.
At last the performance the character ‘Mongoose’ was best
in the film. Vijay Maurya has acted in this role. His dialogue and performance were
noticeable.
