Hate Story 4 is a 2018 Indian Hindi language erotic film directed by Vishal Pandya. It is the fourth installment of the film series. This film has gotten many criticism.

Plot Summary: 

Khurana Family in London is a wealthy and rich family. Mr. Vikram Khurana has two sons Aryan Khurana and  Rajveer Khurana. Once two years ago, Aryan and Rajveer had visited to India and Rajveer tried to harass a woman named Bhavna at a road. At the same time, Ashwin Chaudhary came to save her. Then Rajveer and Ashwin started fighting. At the same time, Aryan shot Ashwin. He died. They came back to London.Tasha, Ashwin's sister tried many but didn't get justice. After two years, Tasha visits In London for revenge. Fortunately, Tasha meets Rajveer. Rajveer is attracted to her. After some days, he started to help her to be a star. But after seeing Tasha's photos, Aryan Khurana is also attracted to her. He dreams to make physical relation with her. At last, Rajveer proposes to her. Aryan didn't like that. So, that day, he manages a business meeting so that Rajveer and Reshma, Aryan's girlfriend can attend the meeting and he can do physical relation with Tasha, alone. But Tasha knew all the traps and she made it on her own way. But Aryan didn't know. Aryan mixed sleeping pills with wine in his father's party. But Tasha didn't take that but another. Aryan didn't know that. She replaced the glass and Aryan took that glass. They spent the night. At the next day, Tasha delivered the photos what she captured that night to Reshma in secret. Reshma can know their relation, so Aryan shot her. Vikram Khurana wanted not to be happened something unexpected before election. But he also didn't know about their relationship. Tasha acted to love Aryan. The news Rajveer got, was true. So he decided to fight with his brother. At a shooting place they fought. But Rajveer was killed by a rod. Aryan buried his brother's dead body in a secret place but Tasha knew all. Then Tasha came and reminded him all. At the eleventh hour, Police come and arrest him.

Analysis and criticism:

There are many criticisms of the film. Besides, it didn't do well at the box office. It's budget was ₹20 crore. But box office has earned ₹22.38 crore only.

Production: 

Pre-production, production and Post production works were completed from June 2017 to 2018. It releases 23 February, 2018. The shooting place was in London, England.

Direction: 

Vishal Pandya is an Indian director and screenwriter. He directed Hate Story 2, Hate Story 3, Wajah Tum Ho and at last Hate Story 4. In Hate Story 4, he wanted to show a different story though its event was predictable to the audiences. His thoughts are similar to other films under his film series but his storytelling style is different to others. Woman the main character is also one of the characteristics of his films. But a huge lacks are when the audiences will watch the film, they will think it is a erotic film but at the eleventh hour, they can understand and predict all the subjects, events and so this film is predictable. The audiences easily can know the conclusion of the film. They will also want to be on behalf of Aryan and Rajveer. They won't want Tasha's work in that way. Firstly, she selects the way of revenge without justice. It was one of the main lack of Vishal Pandya's direction. It was also a big mistake. If he wanted, he could change the way of storytelling system. But he didn't.

Story: 

The story of the film is predictable. Anyone can guess the whole film after watching 20-30 minutes. In this film the story has been focused on a woman character. It is director's main achievement. But there were some mistakes in telling story.If the story became a nice work, the audiences would enjoy it through their own thoughts.
The story could be so attractive that the audiences couldn't feel bore.

Screenplay: 

The screenplay of the film is a good work. Besides, the screenwriter should remove more skin showing scenes in the film. The audiences know, they can understand the full meaning of a event if they get something from it. So, More skin showing is also a huge mistake of the film. The scenes should be completed by cutting something. In a screenplay, there are all the numbers and details of the events, sequences, scenes written. So, it would be a nice work to enlist the good information of the scenes.  

Dialogue: 

The dialogues of the film are very tedious and shoddy. This is a women-centric film. So, the dialogues and performance of the main character should be so decent. Because,there are many target audiences in Indian-sub-continent. They won't accept it. Actually this film is a hilarious one. So, the dialogues are also same. Director could be more creative and the dialogue could be more simple and decent.

Positive analysis: 

These are the most positive issues of the film ; Cinematography, Music, Lighting, Costume and Make up, Sound.

Cinematography: 

The Cinematography of the film is very good and character based and overall focus based. But it is easy to say that in this modern age, digital camera can make a beautiful scene most beautiful. So, it is the contribution of modern technology. But cinematographer is also creative in capturing various shots. But there are some lacks in capturing. Director has taken some nudity in many shots.

Music: 

Music composition is another good work of the film. There are 8 creative songs are in the film though some songs are taken from old movies. 'Ashiq Banaya Apne', 'Boond Boond', 'Tum Mere Ho', Badnaamiyan', 'Naam Hai Mera', 'Mohabbat Nasha Hai' and the last one 'Badnaamiyan' (female) are the most amazing songs. The dance and movement of the main character Tasha is not decent to some others. But the songs are the main  contribution of the film.

Lighting: 

Lighting is so much better but it's main cause is light manager himself. If light manager is so creative, the scenes of the sequence would be creative.

Costume and Make up:

There are some costumes are noticeable.There are many examples. Tasha's dancing dress and police uniform are some of the examples. Besides, the audiences easily understand the geographical area seeing the costumes of the artists. The costumes have changed when the scenes are shot in India and in England. So, it changes the costumes along with geographical area change. Because, cultures and costumes are different from one country to another. Make up is also an important part of the film. Creative make up helps to to give shape to reality.

Sound: 

Background sound and music are very important for a film. These are other contributions of the film. Anyone can guess the upcoming events and conditions listening background sound and music. There are some valuable sounds are used in this film to help it more fruitful.

In a word, there are many mistakes and lacks of the film. But there are some positive news and issues that are very important for the film. But overall the film is tedious and many audiences won't want to watch it because of it's slow motion, nudity and lack of perfect story.
