Pataas (2015) Telugu Film Review

Pataas means cracker. Pataas is Telugu language Indian action comedy film directed by Anil Ravipudi and produced by Nandamury Kalyan Ram. The film music is composed by Sai Karthik. The film is starred by Nandamury Kalyan Ram and Shruti Sodhi in the leading role but others also perform in this film as supporting characters. Plot: Kalyan Sinha a corrupt IPS police officer is transferred to Hyderabad as ACP. He befriends with a corrupt MP and villain GK to give his father Murali Krishna (DGP of Hyderabad) huge headache. As he is the cause for whom Kalyan's mother and his unborn sister are killed when his father was in the duty in a riot. In Hyderabad, Kalyan meets two young girls the news reporter Mahathi and a deaf mute philanthropist Kavya who works in a coffee shop. Kalyan falls in love with Mahathi. But Mahathi does not respond to his love as he is a corrupt police officer and she is honest and sincere journalist. But Kalyan considers Kavya as his sister. But one night GK's brother Nani kills Kavya and DGP Murali with police come to arrest Nani. But for the assistance of Kalyan, they can't arrest him. After that DGP tells Kalyan the truth that they went to arrest such a murder case whom he personally knows. Kalyan sees Kavya's photo and leaves corruption and becomes an honest police officer after arresting Nani. There were some obstacles but he solves all that obstacles. GK a very angry person wants to release his brother from jail. He succeeds but when his father is killed by GK, Kalyan takes revenge killing GK's brother and gangsters. At last Kalyan, strategically, brings GK and his associates in a wrong path and kills all of them. Personal analysis and review: I think it is a romantic action film. This film is against corruption and dishonesty. It is a dutiful, honest and sincere police officer's and on the other hand a dishonest and corrupt political figure like corrupt MP or MLA's family and gangster's life story. But there is some romanticism or romantic story here. But the main thing of the film is it has a new story and has an emotional situation or story. Telugu film's main characteristic is its VFX or graphical editing style that attracts the audience most and specially its story and performance. Natural and unnatural mixed performance attracts the audiences to watch the film. Background music is also very important for such kinds of films. But the songs of the film are not popular as Hindi or others. Now the contemporary films of Telangana are creating attraction for the audience these days. It is their success. But it is only limited in commercial situation not artistic situation. These kinds of films have their own story and creative direction and skilled performance that are attractive to the audiences.
