Pizza, Beer and Cigarettes (1998)

Pizza, Beer and Cigarettes is an Argentine drama film written and directed by Israel Adrian Caetano and Bruno Stagnaro in 1998. Pizza, Beer and Cigarettes ( Spanish: Pizza, Birra, Faso) is also known as : Pizza, Beer & Smokes. The drama is starred by Hector Anglada as Cordoba, Pamela Jordan as Sandra, Jorge Sesan as Pablo, Alejandro Pous as Megabom, Walter Diaz as Flura and others. The film is produced by Bruno Stagnaro. Plot: The story takes place in an impoverished district outside Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. It tells about a corrupt group of teenage in the city, the not so bright Megabom, the aesthetic Pablo, the nerdy Flura and the pregnant girlfriend of Cordobes. All the persons are living together in the same house. The group of the persons steals in order to survive and wanders the city people. Pablo and Cordoba steal from a crippled street vendor which compels Sandra being arrested. But as she is pregnant the police release her. Then she makes Cordoba promise to find a decent job instead of stealing again. So, she leaves the house and stays with her abusive father. Cordoba is looking for more profitable scores, so that he can move to Uruguay with Sandra. Flura arranges a job with the contact of his friend Ruben. The five robbers involve stealing a fancy restaurant with unreliable guns. But the alarm goes off. The five robbers escape from it however. After that the group decides to rob a local nightclub. Pablo and Cordobes follow a cab driver to beat him up and steal his money and gun. They let a passenger, a middle aged woman from Cordoba city, arrive to her destination safely. But the woman calls the police to catch the robbers. The police begin tracking the stolen cab. Back at the nightclub, Cordobes, Pablo and Flura get past the bouncer and proceed to hold the ticket holders at gunpoint whilst Pablo acts as a diversion with Megabom as out looker. The bouncer notices that Pablo and Megabom switch guns. But he begins acting more suspiciously. The other robbers start taking the money from the club. Megabom notices a policeman following them. Megabom damages his motorbike. Cordobes gets out but is shot by the bouncer. The bouncer is also killed by Pablo. After hearing screams, police officer tries to enter into the club but begins to beat down Megabom. Pablo, Cordobes and Flura get to the cab. Flura draws his gun at the officer, but is quickly shot down. Pablo steals another car and escapes wounded Cordobes carrying to the docks. He gives him the money so that Sandra and Cordobes can leave. Cordobes reunites with Sandra but he realizes that he won’t make it to the boat. So, he tells Sandra that she should go alone for the kid’s sake. They kiss farewell and Cordobes manages a final look while Sandra departs. Sound and Music: Music is composed by Leo Sujatovich. In this film, the use of music is very low. But background music or sound is very natural for supporting the scenes. Editing: The editor of the film was Andres Tambornino. There is nat sound and natural scenery in his editing style. The combination of the sound and scenery is very strong in his editing style. Most of the sceneries are of night or dark scenery. So, acting or character’s movement has been realistic. Assembling of the background sound and scenes is very perfect.
