Thugs of Hindostan is an Indian Hindi language action adventure film directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya in 2018. This is a overall film review of the film. It is a huge budgeted film. But It could not be successful to earn the money. I just watch the movie. Everyone or someone tells that it dampens the audiences. Everyone will comment in accordance with his own way. But I think it is creative work though there is something weakness in acting and characterising.
The story of the film is about "Azadi of Hindustan' or the freedom of Indian subcontinent. The set of the film is of 1795. Actually, it's story, cinematography, background sound and music, natural scenery, adventurous movement, set, editing etc are very creative but I don't think at all about it's acting. There is some weakness in acting of some casts but not of all. Overall the film is like able. But the audience is the factor how they will take the film. They can take it as entertainment, someone as others. It is under several genres like action, adventure, fantasy.
We have watched Dhoom, Dhoom 2, Dhoom 3 directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. They are the blockbuster films and screened for a more duration and earned successfully but if we see in this film. It has dropped the success of the past of the director. Actually all the sectors of the movie are very strong. But There is some weaknesses that are not matched with the story and location specially for the that time. Pirate is not matched with the history of Indian subcontinent at that time. Secondly freedom has not come or Indians have not won freedom doing notoriety rather belief, hope, unity and nationality. In this film Amir Khna has acted as Thug but the movie title is Thugs of Hindostan. So, we find out here Thugs plural. So, Firangi (Amir Khan) as well as British officers are the Thugs, cheaters. For this reason. the title of the movie is done as plural.
The past performance and reputation are very positive. But in this film as a character of thug, he has lessened his reputation. But I think from his characterising place he has done good by doing strong acting and comedy.
Some other leading characters are Amitabh Bachchan as Khudabaksh Jhaazi, Fatima Sana Shaikh as Zafira Baig, Katrina Kaif as Suraiya a dancer, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub as Shanichar, Lioyd Owen as John Clive, Ronit Roy as Mirza Sikandar Baig and some others. Katrina Kaif is seen in two or few sequences. But as leading woman character Fatima Sana Shaikh has played her role in some places very weakly. The rest of the characters have played well. Specially the Amitabh Bachchan's performance is very noticeable to all. His Dialogue and performance are very strong that has influenced in the whole move. I think Fatima as supporting character of Amitabh Bachchan. As a leader, Amitabh Bachchan as Khudabaksh changes the plot of the movie. So, there is very important influence of him here.
I don't think it is an unsuccessful work rather I think it is a kind of new starting. I think in this sense that the director has mixed the history with a fiction story. For example; fictional elements are pirates, adventure at that time, fantasy etc. I think the next directors will get inspiration from this and will direct movie matching the fantasy, history fiction, adventure.
